JJ's acquired the pair of Picasso Clownfish in the fall of 2006 from ORA Farms when they were just a little over 1/2" long. Since then they have grown to adults and live in their Duncan coral. .
In March of 2010 we noticed a quarter sized Orange spot at the base of the Duncan coral. The Picasso's had laid their first eggs. We watched the eggs grow for two weeks before hatching. Sadly we lost all of the babies. We are still working to help them raise a family. We may eventually move them to a smaller home in an effort to make a more suitable habitat for young Clownfish.
Watch for updates as time goes on in the life of our Picasso's.
JJ's Reef & Aquarium is owned and operated by Jim and Judy. We opened JJ's in 2005 with nothing more than a guess for marketing saltwater animals in the Columbia Basin. Since then we have been constantly expanding and have loyal customers from all of Eastern Washington and beyond. In 2009 we added 25 freshwater aquariums to our store.
In January 2012 we added 15 more saltwater aquariums ranging from 20 to 40 gallons to better house the smaller species of fish such as Gobies, Clownfish and Seahorses.
We are currently working on our 5 invertebrate tanks that will house snails, crabs, starfish and others.
